With legal sports betting and online casinos alive and well in Pennsylvania, Barstool fans, otherwise known as “stoolies” have been waiting to see when Barstool Sportsbook or Barstool Casino will be a part of Pennsylvania. Ever since the merger/acquisition of Barstool Sports and Penn National Gaming, everyone has been long awaiting news on where and when the “Barstool Sportsbook” and “Barstool Casino” will present themselves. Conventional knowledge was that a new casino would be built, but what about if a current casino and sportsbook were just rebranded. That could happen in Pennsylvania.

Hollywood Casino to Rebrand to Barstool Casino PA?

Let’s read the tea leaves here. Since Penn National Gaming and Barstool Sports agreed to a merger, all of the Penn National properties have been rumored one way or another to be a part of the Barstool brand. Is this the first of many things to come? Penn National owns and operates Hollywood Casino PA, and this is one of the first opportunities of the company using the Barstool brand. Without a doubt, “Hollywood” is not one of the premier brand names amongst all PA online casinos. Could Hollywood Casino be rebranded to Barstool Casino? The speculation is informed, as Barstool Sportsbook could come to other states.

Barstool and Penn National Gaming Partnership in Pennsylvania

The Barstool Sports and Penn National Gaming partnership is a massive one, and it resulted in a valuation of $450M for Barstool Sports. After the partnership closed, the ownership looked as follows:

  • Penn National Gaming – 36%
  • Chernin Group – 36%
  • Barstool Employees – 28% – Dave Portnoy, CEO Erika Nardini, and others.

In Pennsylvania, Penn National Gaming operates two properties. They manage Hollywood Casino PA, and Meadows Casino. Both of these have the opportunity to be expanded to the Barstool brand, but Hollywood Casino PA seems the most likely based on this current promotion.

In other states such as Michigan, Greektown will be Barstool Sportsbook.
