Pennsylvania has finally reached double digits as far as online sportsbook offerings are concerned. Wind Creek Bethlehem and its new partner, Betfred Sportsbook, will be launching their online sportsbook offering soon. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced that a sports betting operator license was granted to Betfred and Wind Creek, who also open a retail Betfred Sportsbook inside its casino. With this being the 10th online offering in Pennsylvania, there will be more competition than ever once sports returns after the coronavirus pandemic suspensions are lifted.
Wind Creek Bethlehem and Betfred Sportsbook Launching Soon
Even without sports, there are still some new sports betting developments. Last week Bethlehem, Pennsylvania's Wind Creek Casino submitted an application to operate a Betfred-partnered sportsbookhttps://t.co/V7Fhz6PsAF

Back in early May, Betfred and Wind Creek Bethlehem applied for a sportsbook license, and just over a month later, it was granted. Betfred has now added another state to its stable of offerings, as the sports betting operator is already located in Iowa and Colorado. Given the sizable investment each casino has to make to the state, BetFred and Wind Creek certainly have lofty goals. New sportsbook operators and casinos have to pay a hefty $10M licensing fee to enter the state, along with taxes that are one of the highest in the nation.
Not only will Betfred PA be offering an online sportsbook, but the Wind Creek Bethlehem casino will have a retail sportsbook location as well. Wind Creek’s general manager Kathy McCracken mentioned that the casino will have a sportsbook with:
- 79 TVs for Viewing
- 13 Self-Service Kiosks
- Betting Windows for Bettors
Betfred Sportsbook Pennsylvania
Betfred Sportsbook PA will be the next online operator available in the PA Sports Betting App market, which makes that 10 in the state. Betfred is a UK-based company, but opened up in the US with its Las Vegas company “Betfred USA Sports”. Betfred will now be in its third state, after entering Iowa and Colorado already in 2020.
Betfred Sportsbook will be the next in a very competitive market with DraftKings and FanDuel owning the large majority of the market share in Pennsylvania. Some larger books have not entered yet for this reason, or for reasons that have to do with finances and taxes. With that said, with only nine other online sportsbooks to compete with, Betfred obviously sees a path to a significant market share to make money in the state of Pennsylvania. Expect Betfred to be ready for sports to resume, especially for the 2020 NFL season in the fall.
