With the Pennsylvania online casino industry booming in the last year, more and more iGaming companies and gambling companies are entering the state to try and cash in on a growing market. That includes casino companies that look to enter Pennsylvania in its online casino infancy and grow from the beginning.
That is happening again in PA, as Golden Nugget and BetMGM look to have their names in the list of online casinos in Pennsylvania. BetMGM is looking to enter the state as soon as early August, and Golden Nugget looks to be shortly after.

BetMGM is one of the more recognizable names in internet gaming and certainly in the casino business. Their next stop is in Pennsylvania. BetMGM is owned and operated by ROAR Digital, who just raised a large amount of capital to continue its expansion into other states. BetMGM is available in New Jersey and other states already, but will add Pennsylvania to its stable before long. Given the properties operated by ROAR Digital, it will not only be BetMGM Casino PA, as they are a part of a larger umbrella with PartyPoker, which is set to rival PokerStars in PA. The next time the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board meets, BetMGM is one of the topics of discussion to allow in the state after getting their QGE (Qualified Gaming Entity) license.
Golden Nugget Online Casino Ready To Launch
Golden Nugget also is looking to enter the state of Pennsylvania, having received a QGE. This means that Golden Nugget (like BetMGM) will need final approval to enter the state in some capacity. In New Jersey, Golden Nugget is one of the premier online casinos in the state. It will look to replicate that success in Pennsylvania through its use of popular games and an easy-to-use platform. So far, Golden Nugget has already paid a total of $8M to enter PA in order to offer table games and slots. They will not offer sports betting, per reports.

The PA online casino market has certainly grown in the last year, and during the coronavirus pandemic as well. During the suspension of major sports, gaming companies focused their efforts on online casino revenue and the results were fascinating. Through May, online casino revenue had continued to rise, and we saw a solid June as well. Here are the numbers for online casino revenue since December of 2019.
Month | Internet Casino Revenue |
December 2019 | $10,624,699 |
January 2020 | $13,957,539 |
February 2020 | $19,490,815 |
March 2020 | $24,265,820 |
April 2020 | $43,067,881 |
May 2020 | $55,838,789 |
June 2020 | $50,055,251 |
With more operators entering the state, it is no surprise that revenue is increasing. With that said, with online casinos being the only form of casino gaming for most during the pandemic it will be interesting to see how the revenue moves back to brick-and-mortar casinos. For Golden Nugget and BetMGM, they are looking to help the PA online casino space grow closer to $100M in internet casino revenue. Competition within the state is fierce with the following casinos all running a barrage of TV and digital ads.
