It’s official! The new retail version of the BetRivers Sportsbook is open at Rivers Casino.
The $5M project has been under construction in hopes to be ready by October, and that goal has been reached.
Of course, the focus for the state and even the books themselves are on online betting, but having a retail sportsbook is about brand awareness, cashing in on a new demographic, and of course getting bettors in from close and afar. People will stay at the hotels, pay for food and drinks, gamble on non-sports betting gaming and more. It’ becomes an attraction in the area.
Rivers Casino’s Bill Keena, who is the casino’s general manager said:
“By putting this here in this spot, it creates a level of excitement in this casino that it hasn’t seen yet. I can tell that, day to day, my table, slot and food and beverage revenue are up. It’s just the pure excitement it adds that takes it to another level on the whole casino floor.”
The soft launch was successful, as Andre Barnabei (VP of Gaming), said:
“Friday night there was not an empty seat. Saturday by 11 a.m. there was not an empty seat. Sunday there was not an empty seat and we had people on the perimeter watching games,” he said. “It was awesome.”

The BetRivers Sportsbook was open in time for customers to watch the Steelers dismantle the rival Bengals on Monday Night Football, and 85% of the betting tickets came in on the Steelers covering the 3.5-point spread. So yes, BetRivers lost a bit on that…but we’re sure they do not mind.
