Alabama Over-Under 11 wins 2019
The oddsmakers aren’t taking much stock into the devastating 44-16 loss to Clemson in the National Championship Game, as the consensus is that ‘Bama will be right back in the thick of things for 2019. With that in mind, they’ll have to do so after losing some top-tier talent from last year, so let’s take a look at what that may look like.
On offense, Alabama will be looking to replace running backs Josh Jacobs and Damien Harris, who was drafted to the Raiders and Patriots respectively. They’ll also be without tight end Irv Smith Jr, who is now with the Vikings. At least at running back, Najee Harris is ready to step up and into a pivotal role as the Tide are without their top running backs. In limited action, Harris averaged 6.7 YPC on 117 attempts in his sophomore season. At quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa will be back for his junior year and will be heavily looked upon, as many regard him as the number one overall pick in 2020 NFL draft. Tagovailoa threw for 3,966 yards with 43 touchdowns and six interceptions with a 69% completion rate.
Their defense won’t be without its holes either. When you lose someone like Quinnen Williams, a team doesn’t just fill his shoes with anyone. Williams had such a knack for stopping offensive plays even before they really got off the ground, so expect their defense to be tested a lot more this season. Because of this, we could see the money staying on the under, which is currently set at -121. Then again, this is a team that has won at least 13 games in four straight years. If you’re thinking Nick Saban has more magic up his sleeve, you’re getting plus money on the over.
Clemson Over-Under 11 wins 2019
Coming off their dominating National Championship win, the Tigers are currently favorites to hit the over on their 11 win total with a line of -139. They’re coming off their first undefeated season since 1981 when Danny Ford was at the helm and the team went 12-0. With the over looking like a safe play, how will the Tigers match up this season?
Unfortunately, when your team is perfect the year prior, you don’t have much to build upon in the next. However, the Tigers will be primed again for another massive season with how well rounded they’ll be once again. Sure, they lost Christin Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell and Kendall Joseph on the defensive side. Offensively, this team is now a bit older, more mature and has the sweet taste of victory. When you have names like QB Trevor Lawrence (3,290 passing yards 30 TD) WR Justyn Ross (46 receptions, 1,000 yards nine touchdowns) and RB Travis Etienne (204 ATT 1658 yards 24 TD) all returning this season, good things are bound to happen.
While the Tigers may have some questions defensively, this team is set up for success and will very much be in the running again. Can they replicate another perfect season? The odds would favor no, but 11 wins just seems like an easy win total to surpass. This is not a line I would stress or overthink. Hit that over before others catch on.

Georgia Over-Under 10.5 Wins 2019
If a safety net is what you’re looking for, Georgia and the over could be your way to go. Projected to be a Top-5 team this season, the Bulldogs will host Notre Dame and Texas A&M to further clout what is already looking to be a tough schedule ahead. Currently, the 10.5 total has a -182 line for the over and a +150 for the under. Amongst all the overs listed, the Bulldogs carry the biggest amount of juice, followed by a number of teams tied at -150.
While Georgia has a number of pass-catcher to replace, they will regain the services of QB Jake Fromm running this offense. Fromm threw for 2,749 yards with 30 touchdowns and a 67.3% completion rate last season. The need for new targets to emerge will be crucial but they will have Jeremiah Holloman back, who made 24 receptions for 418 yards and five touchdowns. RB D’Andre Swift will also return to the team after rushing the ball 163 times for 1049 with 10 touchdowns. Despite some of the losses on this team, coach Kirby Smart has some excellent recruiting classes at their disposal.
With the odds juiced as they are, they certainly yell safety but you’re paying up for it. Despite their tough schedule, the Bulldogs are poised for another run this season and have the talent to do so. With that in mind, I believe this is one of those love em or leave them type bets. You’re either in on the over or just ignoring them altogether. With how much depth this team has, it would take a catastrophic collapse for the under to hit in this scenario.
