DraftKings Sportsbook App in PA is finally going to happen!

It has been a long time coming, but it seems DraftKings is finally coming to Pennsylvania.

On Wednesday, the PGCB approved a sports wagering license for Meadows casino in western PA, that will provide DraftKings Sportsbook with a platform to enter the state as an online vendor for sports betting.

Meadows Racetrack and Casino, about a 35-minute drive south of Pittsburgh, has been unanimously approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Meadows retail sportsbook will open next week.

When Can I Use DraftKings Sportsbook In PA?

DraftKings Sportsbook PA will be ready the first week of November. DraftKings Sportsbook is expected to a receive their online wagering approval at the next Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board meeting on October 30th.

DraftKings Sportsbook will enter into a very competitive marketplace in PA in which FanDuel Sportsbook and FoxBet PA are gaining market share. The latest PA sports betting revenue report showed FanDuel Sportsbook with over 1/3 of the total online betting handle in the state of Pennsylvania. DraftKings will certainly take a piece of that in November.

Novice bettors may not care to notice, but DraftKings will become the 4th Kambi backed online sportsbook and mobile app in the state. Parx, BetRivers and SugarHouse all utilize Kambi for their back-end sportsbook tech. So much for line shopping….

Meadows Casino Sportsbook

Meadows Casino is located in Washington, Pennsylvania. It is owned by Penn National Gaming, which has over 40 locations and casinos in the United States. Ever heard of Hollywood Casino? Also part of Penn National. That was the first place (in Hershey, PA) to take a legal sports bet in Pennsylvania.

Meadows Casino is going to be the 10th casino to open a retail sportsbook in Pennsylvania, but the real prize here is the entry of DraftKings online Sportsbook to Pennsylvania.

Penn National’s Meadows Casino is working with DraftKings, which is a bit different than Hollywood Casino, which works with William Hill US. This will be an interesting development, to see which seems to benefit most.

The online operation will be run by DraftKings, with the technology being run through Kambi (as many others have already). But the retail sportsbook will be run specifically by Meadows Casino itself. They will also use Kambi
