The Stadium District in South Philadelphia is a unique place with all three professional sports arenas and stadiums in the same place. In addition, Xfinity Live is also on “campus” and with a new Live! Casino and Hotel being built in the complex as well, a path opened for a brand new FanDuel Sportsbook retail operation in the heart of South Philadelphia.
In a new deal with Cordish Companies (who operates the Live! Casinos and Hotels) has partnered with FanDuel Sportsbook to bring a retail sportsbook to Live! Philadelphia, and another Cordish casino located in Westmoreland County. The deal also includes fantasy operations, but the focus is on the retail sportsbook and gaming opportunities.
That is not all though, as FanDuel and Cordish will work together in Maryland, Washington DC, and other areas to help secure gaming and betting opportunities for both parties.
Joseph Weinberg, Principal of the Cordish Companies expresses the companies’ excitement in a press release:
“We are excited to partner with FanDuel to bring our customers the premier sports betting experience in the country, including unique promotions and sports engagement opportunities that will only be available at Live! properties”
FanDuel Sportsbook in South Philadelphia
If you have been to the complex in South Philly, you have seen Lincoln Financial Field, the Wells Fargo Center, and Citizens Bank Park. You have seen Xfinity Live.
Do you remember the Holiday Inn that is being knocked down and replaced? That will be the brand new Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia.
Cordish owns Xfinity Live, but is also adding this casino and hotel to the complex to create yet another attraction on the hotbed of Philadelphia sports betting. The casino hotel is a ~$700M project and will now include a retail FanDuel Sportsbook, giving both companies access to millions of Philadelphia sports fans throughout the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and other sporting events hosted in one of the three venues in the complex.
Whether it is pre-game, post-game, or out of town visitors looking for a place to stay while attending the games…the Live! Casino Hotel paired with FanDuel Sportsbook will be seen by a plethora of sports fans, and that fits into Cordish’s business plan. They love to attract eyeballs to casinos and hotels and entertainment complexes. With Xfinity Live paired with the hotel casino and three venues, South Philly will be a very busy place for betting, gambling, and sports alike.
FanDuel Sportsbook is #1 in Pennsylvania
The agreement with the Cordish Companies is just another step for FanDuel Sportsbook in PA, as they continue to dominate the PA Sports betting market with nearly 50% of the overall handle in October, and numbers are expected on November shortly.
Given the dominance of FanDuel Sportsbook so far, this partnership just made sense for both parties. Cordish wanted a partner with the best reach and a recognizable brand name in Philadelphia and of course FanDuel Sportsbook will have a presence at a Cordish location, which has proven success all across the country and in Philadelphia already.
Unibet recently signed a deal with the Sixers and Eagles, along with FoxBet, Parx and BetRivers branding all over the Wells Fargo Center. Advertisements are one thing, but having a physical sportsbook location by the stadiums a big advantage for FanDuel.
