Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack (Chester,PA) is set to join the PA Sports Betting party on Tuesday Jan. 22nd. “The Book,” Harrah’s on-site retail sportsbook will become the 4th sportsbook in the Philadelphia area. It is the 6th legal sportsbook in the state of Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board requires a 48-hour testing period for all new PA Sportsbooks. We recently visited Parx Casino Sportsbook during their testing phase. January 22nd will be the start of Harrah’s “The Book” testing period.

The Philadelphia area now has 4 active sportsbook locations.

2. SugarHouse Casino in Philly
3. Harrah’s “The Book” in Chester
4. Parx Casino South Philly Turf Club

The Valley Forge Casino Sportsbook, who has partnered with FanDuel sportsbook, is due to launch very soon. The SugarHouse Casino Sportsbook opened in December 2018 and reported sports betting handle of $5,539,806.46 for December 2018.

Caesars Entertainment, Harrah’s parent company, currently operates sportsbooks in Harrah’s Atlantic City (also called “The Book”), 13 Nevada locations, plus a casino in Mississippi. Caesars sports betting in PA, NJ, and MS run on a platform developed by Scientific Games. Caesars online sportsbook and mobile app is approved in NJ.
