The Philadelphia Phillies are the cities’ longest-tenured team, but oddly has been without success for close to a decade. Since the 2008 World Series, the Phillies had gotten “worse” each year until the last few seasons but there is hope again. With the signing of Bryce Harper last offseason, Zack Wheeler this year, and the hiring of World Series-winner Joe Girardi, things are looking up for the Phillies.

In Pennsylvania, legal sports betting is growing…and fast. Entering this baseball season, there are more futures and props to bet on than ever before in PA. Let’s take a look at how to bet the Phillies, what markets are available, and more.

Phillies Odds to Win the World Series

Team Odds to Win the World Series
Los Angeles Dodgers +375
New York Yankees +400
Houston Astros +550
Atlanta Braves +1200
Washington Nationals +1600
Minnesota Twins +1800
Philadelphia Phillies +2000
St. Louis Cardinals +2000
Tampa Bay Rays +2000

The above odds are at DraftKings Sportsbook PA, where the Phillies are +2000 to win the 2020 World Series. There are six teams with better odds than the Phils, three of which in the National League (Dodgers, Braves, and Nationals). Betting the Phillies at 20:1 seems like a good bet given the similar odds of the Cardinals, and Rays, but other betting markets have much better odds for bettors, given the price and value on the Phillies as the sixth-best team in terms of World Series odds.

Phillies Odds to win the National League Pennant

Team Odds to Win the NL Pennant
Los Angeles Dodgers +170
Atlanta Braves +550
Washington Nationals +700
Philadelphia Phillies +900
St. Louis Cardinals +900
New York Mets +1000
Chicago Cubs +1100
Milwaukee Brewers +1500
Cincinnati Reds +1800

The Phillies certainly are near the top as the class of the National League, according to the DraftKings Sportsbook odds. They are +900 to win the National League and reach the World Series, behind the Dodgers, Braves, and Nationals. The talent difference between the Dodgers and the rest of the National League is vast, which may scare some bettors away from placing futures bets on anyone besides LA. With the Nationals losing Anthony Rendon to the Angels, can they repeat as NL champions? Time will tell.

Phillies Odds to win the NL East

Team Odds to Win the NL East
Atlanta Braves +190
Washington Nationals +250
New York Mets +300
Philadelphia Phillies +325
Miami Marlins +45000

This is a very odd market based on prices. The Phillies have the fourth-best odds to win the National League as we saw above, but they also have the fourth-best odds to win their own division? Something is off. This indicates one of a few things. One, it could mean that bettors and DraftKings Sportsbook believe there is a higher chance for the Phillies to reach the playoffs and perform well, but as a wild card winner. With that being said, the odds to win the NL East are all quite close. The Braves are +190, and the Phils are 135 points away at just +325. Then, the Marlins are +45000. This is the best market to get the Phillies at compared to other prices, given their odds.

Phillies Over-Under Win Totals

Philadelphia Phillies Win Totals (DK Sportsbook)
Over 84.5 (-110) Under 84.5 (-110)

After the Phillies to win the NL East, the win total may be the best value for Phillies future bettors. Looking at the other markets for the Phillies to win the World Series, win the NL Pennant, and the NL East, the Phillies are routinely “ranked” in the top four of the National League in terms of odds to win in those markets. Looking at their win total at just 84.5, there is some value here. Seven teams won more than 84.5 games last season in the National League. If the Phillies’ futures odds hold, they will be in the top seven of the NL. Last season, the Phillies were 81-81 and were decimated by injuries and added Zack Wheeler. Can the Phillies win four more games than last season? If you believe so, this is the perfect market for you.

To Make the Playoffs Odds

DraftKings Sportsbook has a prop that allows bettors to wager on whether or not a team makes the playoffs, regardless of how. The odds of the Phillies making the playoffs as either the NL East winner or a wild card berth are:

  • Yes (+180)
  • No (-225)

DraftKings has the Phillies to miss the playoffs at -225, which provides some value on “yes” for them making the playoffs. This is how you shop for odds, based on other markets. If you are a bettor that believes the Phillies will have a successful season, you may want to bet on them to either:

  • Win the World Series
  • Win the NL Pennant
  • Win the NL East
  • Win more than 84.5 games.

The only bet that allows you multiple outs is this one, to make the playoffs. The Phillies could win more than 84.5 games and miss the playoffs, so the over 84.5 bet could hit. But, with the Phillies making the playoffs at +180, there is more value there than them winning the NL East at +325.

Phillies Player Futures Odds

Of course, bettors can wager on the Phils as a team. But did you know bettors can bet on the players individually? Let’s take a look at the best Phillies player futures.

NL MVP Odds

Player Odds to win National League MVP
Bryce Harper +2200
Rhys Hoskins +6600
J.T. Realmuto +6600

The Phillies have three candidates at +6600 or better on the board to win NL MVP. Of course, the “best” candidate is Bryce Harper at +2200. With eight players having odds ahead of him, this is a solid bet if you believe Harper has an MVP-type season. The difficulty in this market is the Dodgers adding Mookie Betts, a perennial AL-MVP candidate, to their long list of MVP-caliber players. Hoskins and Realmuto are secondary options, but Realmuto has a higher chance given the position he plays.

NL Cy Young Odds

Player Odds to win National League Cy Young
Aaron Nola +2200
Zack Wheeler +5000

The Phillies only have two pitchers available on the board to bet the winner of the National League Cy Young. Aaron Nola is undoubtedly the best option at +2200, and he has seven pitchers with better odds on the board. The National League is stacked with talented pitchers, so this is a future that will be tough to win if you bet on someone other than Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Walker Buehler, Stephen Strasburg, and names like Kershaw, Flaherty, Castillo, and even Reds’ acquisition Trevor Bauer who has the talent to perform like a Cy Young candidate.

Home Run Totals

Player HR Total Market
Bryce Harper 38.5 (-112 to over and under)
Rhys Hoskins Not released yet!

Only Bryce Harper is listed on the board for home run totals, but expect DraftKings Sportsbook to release more props closer to the beginning of the MLB season. Harper’s prop is set at 38.5, so he would need 39 or more home runs to hit the “over” on this prop. While that number seems “low” to some, Harper has only hit more than 35 home runs in a season once, in 2015 with the Nationals when he blasted 42 home runs. and won NL MVP.

Home Run Leader Odds

Player Odds to Lead MLB in Home Runs
Bryce Harper +2200
Rhys Hoskins +4700

There are two players on DraftKings Sportsbook’s board for the 2020 MLB Home Run Leader, of course led by Bryce Harper. With his career high of 42, this seems like a bet worth passing on with some bombers in the MLB. Names like Joey Gallo, Pete Alonso, and Cody Bellinger are far more likely to win this crown and still be had at least +900 to win.
