With SugarHouse launching the first online sports betting app in Pennsylvania, what’s next for the sportsbook? Well, as it odd as it may sound, the SugarHouse brand is about to be replaced.
While PA sports bettors may have been hoping for news on a iOS app launch, instead the news points to a permanent brick-and-mortar sportsbook opening in the fall.
Rivers Casino Philadelphia Sportsbook
The SugarHouse casino and sportsbook in Philadelphia will soon be called Rivers Casino Philadelphia. The permanent sportsbook area that bettors have been waiting for looks to be at the forefront of the re-brand.
The 5,300 square foot retail sportsbook will include 100+ seats for guests, eight 80” televisions, a central LED odds board, six betting windows and over 20 self-betting kiosks.
The new Rivers Philadelphia retail sportsbook will be located in the Lucky Red Bar area of the current SugarHouse casino.
We're excited to bring you bigger and better amenities!

There will also be upgrades to Casino property itself outside of the Rivers Philadelphia name change.
SugarHouse Online Sportsbook PA Numbers Are Strong
The SugarHouse brand may be leaving us in the near future, but their online/mobile PA sports betting numbers are hard to miss. Over a four-day period at the end of the month, which was mostly testing, their sports betting handle was nearly $600,000.
To be frank, that betting handle is absurd. When you extrapolate that over a full month of operation, that’s even more impressive. Lets remember, these figures do not include iPhone/iOS users in PA.
The June sports betting revenue report will tell a story of competition between PA Sports Betting apps. SugarHouse now has competition from BetRivers and Parx online sportsbook in PA. Rumors are also swirling that FanDuel Sportsbook PA will launch towards the end of July and READY FOR THIS, with an iOS app!
