Rumors Point To FanDuel Sportsbook PA Launching With iOS App

The much anticipated launch of PA online sportsbooks and mobile sports betting apps has been slowed a bit without iOS apps. When SugarHouse Sportsbook PA, Parx online Sportsbook and BetRivers launched their online/mobile products, Apple announced some changes. RMG (real money gaming) apps must be built native to the iOS platform structure. Many sportsbooks and casino apps “wrap” their HTML in order to be displayed with in an app. Apple has given the sports betting apps and mobile casino’s till September to get in line with the regs or be removed from the app store.

Will FanDuel PA Mobile App Will Launch With iOS?

A recent Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article about the launch of BetRivers Sportsbook hinted that the iOS problems that have plagued PA mobile sports betting apps will be coming to an end.

“One snag, however, is that unlike Android phones, Apple’s iPhones are apparently months away from allowing new gambling-related apps, due to new coding requirements the company has imposed. “We will launch the app as soon as Apple approves the app,” Mr. Stetz said. “We are also working on an alternative solution which we’ll launch soon.”

Sources at FanDuel have also mentioned that they were confident a Pennsylvania launch would include iOS availability for the FanDuel Sportsbook PA app.

As we wait for the June sports betting numbers from the PGCB, it is worth reminding our readers that SugarHouse online sportsbook saw a $573K+ handle in May. This massive number came in over a 3-4 day testing period. With Parx and BetRivers joining the party in June, the numbers could be huge.

When we skip to the potential for July, the inclusion of iOS app access will take the PA sports betting handle to new levels before football season.
