Holidays and sports have had a tremendous relationship over the years. New Years Day and College Football with some Winter Classics, Thanksgiving and the NFL, but what has become very popular is the NBA on Christmas Day.
With the NBA giving all players off on December 24th, PA online sportsbooks look forward to Christmas Day for some marquee games.
This year we have five games, with the Clippers and Lakers highlighting the night game and the early game being the local Philadelphia 76ers at home against the Milwaukee Bucks.
There is plenty to bet on while you are enjoying time with your family on Christmas Day, so let’s dive into the Sixers vs. Bucks matchup.
Sixers vs. Bucks Christmas Day Preview
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
When: December 25th, 2:30 PM EST
TV: ABC
In what many believe could be the Eastern Conference Finals preview, the Bucks travel to Philadelphia to take on the Sixers in a massive game as far as projecting the Eastern Conference for the rest of the season.
There is no shortage of star power with Giannis Antetokounmpo coming into town to face Joel Embiid and the Sixers for the first time this season, the first of four meetings between the two teams.
The Bucks come in at one of the better teams in the NBA, and likely the best team in the Eastern Conference, while the Sixers have one of the NBA’s best home records.
This will be a battle of the stars. Who can contain Giannis for the Sixers? Ben Simmons will have his hands full with the perennial MVP candidate. Can the Bucks stop Embiid inside and score with their secondary options in Khris Middleton and company?
All of these questions will be answered on Christmas Day, in a battle of the titans matchup.
There will be plenty to bet on for this game, including spreads, totals, moneylines, props, and more!
Sixers vs. Bucks Prediction
With a spread bouncing between MIL -1, PHI -1, and a half-point either way…it is expected to be a terrific game.
The Bucks are quite literally the best team in the NBA in terms of record at 27-4, and are 12-2 on the road.
In Philadelphia, the 76ers are 15-2, and 22-10 overall.
Milwaukee is averaging over 120 points per game, by far the most in the Eastern Conference. They have an average differential of +13.5, and have blown out just about every team they have faced so far in 2019. The Bucks lost to the Mavericks on December 16th, but their last loss before that was on November 8th. Insane.
The Bucks have a clear edge over the Sixers in terms of depth, as the Sixers bench remains one of the weaker units amongst hopeful title contenders, and Milwaukee has a rotation 10-deep. The best player on the floor belongs to the Bucks in Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Milwaukee is certainly in much better form having lost one time in over a month.
A spread of just a point or less is too low, and they will be quite the popular bet on Christmas Day.
Prediction:
Milwaukee Bucks – 117
Philadelphia 76ers – 108
